About seasonal vs per-push contracts

Seasonal contract: you pay a fixed price for the winter, often split into monthly installments, and the contractor plows (and salts, if included) every time snow reaches the agreed trigger depth. Budgeting is predictable, and you aren't billed more in a heavy winter. In a light winter you may pay more than per-push would have cost. Some seasonal contracts cap the number of events or total snowfall and bill extra beyond the cap.

Per-push (per-plow) pricing: you pay each time the lot is plowed. A long storm may need several pushes. It's simple and fair in light winters, but costs swing with the weather, and per-push customers may be scheduled after seasonal customers during big storms.

Per-event pricing: one price per storm, regardless of how many pushes it takes, usually with tiers by total snowfall (for example 2–4 inches, 4–8 inches, and so on). Salting is often priced per application on top.

Things to compare in any snow contract: the trigger depth, which areas are included (lot, drive lanes, walks, docks), salting terms, how much snow counts as one event, hauling or stacking, the season dates (often November through March or April), and insurance and liability terms. Contractors in the Pittsburgh area typically start booking seasonal commercial work in late summer and fall, so earlier requests have more options.
